Wackernagel: 'There is only one planet'

Have you read the interview with Wackernagel on EurActiv?

"European nations, which use more than twice the amount of resources available on their territories, need to factor ecological assets into their national accounting systems in order to prevent ecological bankruptcy, says Mathis Wackernagel of the Global Footprint Network. He spoke with EurActiv in an interview."

Romania says NO to GMO!

Yet another country makes a bold stand saying no to GMOs in their agriculture:

"Romania — In an historic move, the Romanian Government today (2007-03-27) announced it will ban genetically engineered (GE) maize and embrace organic agriculture. The move is particularly significant as GE maize is the only commercially cultivated GE crop permitted in Europe."

Dirty car deals, climate destruction on wheels

Dear friends,

This is really important, can you please take two minutes to sign our cars petition and send this email to your network of friends?

The heads of France and Germany are about to conclude a bilateral deal, which threatens to water down (already weak!) European legislation tackling CO2 emissions from cars. We've made a petition for the European Council's current President, demanding that he and other heads of state stand up for the climate.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION NOW.

We'll deliver the petition to the President of the European Council on Monday, and every day before 12 April when we have another 10,000 more signatures.

The German government is driving this--putting the immediate commercial interests of German luxury car-makers before the safety of the planet. Sarkozy is riding along with Merkel because he needs Germany's support for his grand plans for a Mediterranean Union.
Two wheels better than four,
Mel, Martin, Richard, Eoin and the car campaign team

P.S. Please remember to forward this email to friends. Together we can stop this!

Demand justice for the victims of Bhopal

I just took part in this cyber action

"Please take urgent action to call for justice for the survivors of the 1984 Bhopal disaster who have once again walked 800km to Delhi seeking an appointment with the Prime Minister to seek redress for their long standing demands.

Two years ago, the Prime Minister only agreed to meet with them after they spent 21 days on the streets, including 6 days of fasting, after having walked to Delhi. He promised to deliver on their demands. Two years later, these promises have proven hollow."
